Parents/Guardians of students who ride bus 208. Bus 208 is running behind schedule this afternoon, 10/23/2023. Bus 208 is running about 30 minutes behind. I apologize for the short notice and any inconvenience this may cause.

Good afternoon Cougar families! This message contains important information for the week of October 23rd.
First, I would like to thank you for contributing to our United Way campaign. The school raised $3,353. The homeroom class that contributed the highest amount was Mrs. Barreto's class. They contributed $291.39 and will receive an ice cream sundae party this week. Thank you again for supporting our United Way campaign.
This week is Red Ribbon Week. Each day has a theme for students and staff to show support of being drug free. The themes for the week are:
Monday - We are proud to be drug free! Wear Red, White, and Blue.
Tuesday - Be drug free and follow your dreams! Wear your pajamas to school.
Wednesday - My future is bright because I'm drug free! Wear your sunglasses and neon.
Thursday - Reach for the stars and be drug free! Career Day dress up.
Friday - I am too smart to start! Wear your favorite college shirt.
We are looking forward to seeing students and staff participate in these days. Follow our Facebook page for pictures.
Monday, October 30th, report cards will be posted in PowerSchools. The report cards will not be printed and sent home with students. You will need to be connected to PowerSchool in order to view your child's report card. If you are not connect to PowerSchool, please come to the school with a valid ID to get the information you need to sign-up.
I would like to address the carline. You guys have done a great job of waiting in a double line for the carline to start. As you move forward, please make sure you stay in a double line. Mrs. Yebra does a great job of alternating cars for dismissal. The only time you should be in a single line is when you have pulled up to the cone for your child to enter your car. Also, as a reminder, please do not go around cars in the drop off and pick-up area. If we need you to go around, someone will direct you. Otherwise, be patient as students load. It is not safe for cars to go around as some of the students load on the driver side.
It's going to be another amazing week at Middlesex Elementary and we can't wait to see you all Monday dressed in red, white and blue!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. We want to inform you that our phone lines and internet services are temporarily down due to unforeseen technical issues. School is still in session.
To ensure continued communication, if there is an emergency, you may contact the NCPS PR Line at the following number until the lines are restored: 252-451-8517; leave a message, and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. We will update you as we receive more information, including direct communication with the school.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work diligently to resolve the issue promptly. If you have any urgent concerns, please contact us at the provided number.

Good afternoon Cougar families!
If you still have CandyMan orders and money, it should have been turned in Friday. Please make sure everything is turned in Monday morning so we can close our fundraiser.
Fall pictures were sent home this week. If you have any concerns about the pictures, please contact the school. We do have a makeup picture day scheduled in November. These are the pictures we use for the yearbook so it's important all students have a picture made even if you do not want to purchase them.
Tuesday, October 10th, we will have a curriculum night at Middlesex Elementary. The event will begin in the gym at 5:30 and then you will be able to visit classrooms to hear important information about mCLASS as well as what your child will be learning throughout the year. We are very excited our Dual Language classes will be performing to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month. Please make plans to attend.
Please make sure during dismissal time, you are making double lines. Please pull up as close to the car in front of you as possible. We are trying to make our car line as safe as possible and our hope is to get cars off the main road.
During this week, October 9th - October 13th, the school will be raising money for United Way. We will have a "Money War" between each homeroom class. The class who brings in the highest amount of money will receive an ice cream sundae party. Last year the school raised $4100. This year our goal is $4500. If the school reaches the goal, Ms. Carey and Mrs. Gonzalez will kiss a bull! The students are pretty excited to watch the administrators kiss a bull. Please help support United Way by donating, if you are able.
We have some important days coming up. Please make sure you are reading the Parent Newsletter so you are aware of all that is going on at Middlesex Elementary.
We hope you all have a great Sunday and look forward to an amazing week at Middlesex Elementary.
