Principal - Sonya Horton

Ms. Horton is beginning her 18th year in the field of education. She previously worked as an elementary physical education teacher for 10 years and coached high school volleyball at Hunt. Currently, she is beginning her eighth year in an administrative role, having spent four years at the elementary level and two years at the high school level within Wilson County Schools. Ms. Horton recently held the position of Assistant Principal at Southern Nash High School. As of January 2024, she will assume the role of interim principal at Southern Nash Middle School. She is excited about joining the Cobra Family and aims to cultivate positive relationships with staff, students, families, and the community. In her leisure time, Ms. Horton enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, particularly to the beach, and watching sports.

Assistant Principal - Kimberly Cone

Mrs. Cone has 17 years of experience in education, with one year at Tar River Academy as Assistant Principal and two years at SNMS. She is a Nash County resident, born and raised. She attended Bailey Elementary, Southern Nash Middle School, and Southern Nash High School. Mrs. Cone has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education and a Master’s in School Administration, both from Grand Canyon University. Throughout her career, she has been a Teacher Assistant, an ID Moderate teacher, a Resource Teacher, and Extended Content Standards teacher, and is now, the proud Assistant Principal of Southern Nash Middle School.
