Good afternoon, Parents/Guardians: Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) will conduct an important Mass Communication Test on Friday, February 9, 2024. This test aims to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our communication systems, ensuring that we can reach all members of our school community promptly in critical situations. This test will involve each school in our district. For parents and guardians with contact information linked to their child's school records, please anticipate receiving notifications via text messages, voice calls, and emails. This initiative is crucial for confirming that our lines of communication are fully operational and that you are kept informed about your child's safety and school events. If your email or phone number fails during our test, please be advised that your child's school will attempt to contact you through alternative means. This may include sending a letter home with your child or employing another communication method over the following four weeks. We also want to remind you of the importance of keeping your contact information current in our system. You can review and update your child's details anytime through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, or contact your child's school. It is not uncommon for contact information to be incorrect by just a single digit, yet accurate details are crucial for ensuring that we can reach all parents and guardians effectively. Englewood's Youth Arts Night The Youth Talent Show will be held on Monday, March 25 from 6:00pm -7:30pm. Admission will cost $5 per individual ticket and $20 for a family pack (up to 5 people covered). All proceeds will benefit the athletic and arts programs at Englewood.

What a wonderful Wednesday! EES wanted to congratulate Mr. Moore on being voted teacher assistant of the year!! We are so proud of him and his accomplishments.

DL/I Parents - A letter will be coming home this week regarding transition for DL/I students to attend WAVE next year. Be on the lookout for a short survey to poll parents for their intentions to remain with the program. Additionally, Mrs. Wiggins will host a Zoom meeting for Q and A specifically for DL/I parents on Monday, February 12, 2024 @ 6 p.m. and again on Monday, February 19, 2024. What a terrific Tuesday here at EES. EES wanted to congratulate Mrs. Thomas! Mrs. Thomas was recognized at last nights board meeting for exceeding growth. Not only did Mrs. Thomas exceed growth, and she was also voted teacher of the year! We are so proud of her and her accomplishments.

In addition, please remember to pick up your Candy Apples before Thursday of this week. These are perishable items. Remember that this is a short week this week, due to a Teacher Workday on Friday, February 9. No School for students on Friday of this week. Please remember to complete the signed NCPS Model Release form in Rooms or send the paper version back to school completed. You must have this completed if you wish your students to be photographed or in the yearbook. Good Evening Bear Family - We are gearing up for another great week at Englewood. Just a reminder that Miss Debbie’s Candy Apples are set to arrive this week. Once we have everything sorted, we will send another call out to let you know about pick up times. Please make sure that you have signed the NCPS Model Release form in Rooms with an online component or the paper version that we sent home last week. You must have this completed if you wish your students to be photographed or in the yearbook. Our updated playground is almost completed. We began a fundraiser for students to buy raffle tickets, for $1.00 per entry, last week through Tuesday of this week. We are planning on drawing 2 students in each grade level to play on the new playground equipment first. Weather permitting, we will have our new playground equipment ready for playing on Wednesday of this week. Lastly, our district is having 2 Community Engagement Events in regards to the Demerger this week. On Tuesday, January 30, a meeting will be held at Winstead Avenue Elementary from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. This event will discuss Englewood and Winstead becoming K-5 schools for next school year. Also, on Wednesday, January 31 from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm at Edwards, they will discuss rising 6th graders attending Rocky Mount Middle School. There will be a time for Questions and Answers from the district about these changes. Please consider attending, so that you are informed. Playground update! We just received word the playground should,hopefully, be completed on Wednesday January 31st!!!!! We will stop the sale of raffle tickets on Tuesday January 30th at 3:00pm. The times that students can purchase tickets are located on the flyer.

Does your student want to be the first to play on the new playground? We are having a raffle! Raffle tickets will go on sale starting January 26th. Students can purchase a raffle ticket from the front office during the times listed on the flyer. Raffle tickets will be $1 per ticket. We will draw 2 students per grade level to be the first to play on the new playground. We will give a notice the day before as to when the raffle will end.
