Good Evening Bear Family -
We had a great weekend celebrating with our Bears! Congratulations to our girls and boys basketball teams for winning the NCPS Elementary Basketball League Championships this weekend. We are so proud of our players, staff, and cheerleaders! Monday evening, our NCPS Central Office will have a Community Forum regarding the new district attendance zone lines at Winstead Avenue at 6 pm. Also, this week, we will continue with our makeup benchmarks testing for Reading and Math through Wednesday. Wednesday, we have an Early Release Day; students will be dismissed at 1 pm. Our Glee Club will perform their musical, Freedom, on Friday evening at 6 pm. This will take place at Englewood Presbyterian, across the street from the school. After the performance, Winstead Avenue Elementary is having a Carnival on their campus. Feel free to support both schools by attending each event.

Our girls and boys basketball teams will play in the Championship games around 3:15 pm today at Nashville Elementary School. Admission is $3.00 per person. Come out and cheer for our teams!

There are 2 opportunities for fun next Friday, April 19. Our Glee Club will be performing at Englewood Presbyterian at 6 pm, which is across the street from our school. After our Glee Club performs, please feel free to go to our sister school, Winstead Avenue for their Carnival. Please support our two schools in our area.

On Saturday, our basketball teams will play in the championship tournament at Nashville Elementary School. We are so proud of our basketball players and cheerleaders this year. All sales are CASH ONLY, and the cut off for purchasing a yearbook or buying a dedication page is May 2, 2024. Attached is what the form will look like. (It should be on hot pink paper.)
Please remember if you have not completed the Opt-In form, either on-line or a physical copy, your student will NOT appear in the yearbook.

This week is a short week for students and staff. We will begin our week with Report Cards being issued. I just finished reviewing report cards for distribution tomorrow, and parents -please note that students must be making 60 or higher in each class, in order to be promoted to the next grade level. Also, attendance matters - students may not miss more than 85% of the school year, in order to be promoted. Lastly, NCPS will only have Summer Scholars Academy (Summer School) for grades 2nd and 3rd for enrichment purposes only. Tomorrow night, Monday, March 25, we will have our Englewood’s Youth Arts Night at 6 pm. Admission is $3 per person or $10 for a family of 4. We are raising funds for our Art and Athletics programs. Our students have worked hard to prepare for this event. We have our 4th grade field trip on Wednesday to Sky Vu for STEM activities. On Thursday, we will have our PBIS Celebration for the 3rd 9 weeks, and we will have our March Madness Finale on 7-12 multiplication products. We will begin our Spring Break on Friday. No school for students or staff on Friday of this week. We will return from Spring Break on April 8th.

5:30 p.m. Tuesday, 3/26 at Rocky Mount High!
Join us to celebrate the brilliance of Nash County Public Schools' students at our Celebration of the Arts! This event showcases artwork from students across the district. After the celebration, the artwork will be displayed at the Braswell Memorial Library throughout the month of April. Then it will be at the NCPS District Office in the Superintendent’s Art Gallery. 🖼️🎨✏️

Congratulations to our Battle of the Books Team for taking 3rd Place last week during the NCPS Battle of the Books Competition. Just a reminder that the grading period ends tomorrow, Monday, March 18. If students are not passing their courses, there is no option for Summer School this year. Students will be retained. Only Grades 2nd and 3rd will have an option for Summer School; however, this is not a process in passing their grades, it is for enrichment purposes only.
We have our Brick City Competition on Friday, and our 3rd Graders will be traveling to the Durham Life and Science Museum on Friday.
We have our Youth Arts Night on Monday, March 25th from 6 pm until 7:30 pm at EES. Tickets are on sale for $3.00 per person or $10.00 for a family of four. This is a fundraiser for our Arts and Athletics Programs. We have 20 student participants in this show.
